Interfaith and Cross-cultural Trip to Turkey
Turkey, the land of Rumi, is a land of Divine love; where diverse faiths and cultures have lived in peace for millennia: it is a land of dialogue and tolerance, it is the land of Abraham – spiritual forefather of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. There is much to experience in Turkey. In association with Canadian Institute of Interfaith Dialog; Dialog Foundation organized a unique interfaith and cross-cultural trip to Turkey. The trip aimed to be a vehicle to promote dialogue among Islam and other faiths to strengthen peace on earth.

For 10000 years, Anatolia has been the stage and meeting place for close contacts among different cultures, civilizations, religions. It is the garden where diverse faiths and traditions have grown; It is the homeland of the Turks. Anatolia is the land of friendly people, old and complex history, incredible archeological ruins, glorious art, intricate crafts, and splendid scenery. Urban civilization first took root in Anatolia. Three monotheistic religions chose Anatolia as a base to spread their beliefs. The faiths lived together for centuries in this setting and left their traces throughout this land. Turkey offers a spectacular coastline, majestic mountains, cosmopolitan cities and quaint villages - no wonder it's one of the world's most desirable destinations. So we headed to Turkey, where East meets West in a flourish of color, culture and adventure. One of our guests this year has been Mr. Hilliard Goldfarb, Associate Chief Curator of The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Dr. Goldfarb had a meeting with Dr. Ilber Ortayli, the Director of Topkapi Museum in Turkey on how the two museums in Montreal and Istanbul can collaborate through joint cultural projects and arts initiatives in the future.
