Dialog Foundation is a young and dynamic non-profit organization whose purpose is
to unite diverse communities in Quebec through dialog. Dialog Foundation was established
in 2003 in Montreal to promote enduring interfaith and intercultural cooperation,
tolerance and dialog. Most of the people who initially thought about the necessity
of interfaith dialog and established Dialog Foundation were Turkish Muslims; however,
our members increasingly come from diverse cultures, faiths and nations. Initial
references and cultural roots of Dialog Foundation stem from the Anatolian Turkish
Sufi tradition. Anatolia, the bedrock of 26 different civilizations, has been the
center of intercultural and interfaith dialog and exchange for centuries. Turkey
is currently a unique cultural venue and meeting point which can bridge the East
and the West. Anatolian Turkish Sufi interpretation of Islam has always been very
tolerant, welcoming and respectful of diversity. Dialog Foundation welcomes especially
members and volunteers from diverse traditions, faiths, races and nations. Our current
members from diverse backgrounds pioneer global interfaith dialogue and peace building
skills.
- We want to enhance dialog, understanding, compassion and tolerance among people
of diverse religious faiths, cultures and races in Montreal.
- We aim to bring people of diverse spiritual traditions together for cooperative,
charitable service projects.
- We want to promote interfaith cooperation and to create cultures of peace in Quebec.
- We aim to be a bridge-building organization. We want to improve interactions in
our community by bridging the “dialog gap” between Muslims and members of other
faiths.
- We want to provide a forum where all Abrahamic faiths and others can meet to learn
about each other and discuss matters of common concern in a spirit of mutual respect
and understanding.
The vision of Dialog Foundation is to contribute to Montreal’s diverse and multicultural
atmosphere by service and contribution to society. We dream for a cosmopolitan city
of peace, tolerance, love and compassion where:
The environment and all life is cherished, protected, and improved,
Religious and cultural fears & hatred are replaced with understanding and respect
People come to know and care for their neighbors
The richness of human and religious diversity is woven into the fabric of communal,
civil, and societal life
Religious and spiritual communities live in harmony and contribute to a better Montreal
using their richness of wisdom and compassion
We endeavor to bring together people of goodwill from all cultures and faiths on
a common platform of love and tolerance to develop an understanding that can inspire
peace and harmony in our community. On this path, we are very much inspired by the
vision and experience of the world's most prominent spiritual leaders, like Jesus,
Mohammed and Moses.
